“They were people who cared, not just an organization"

Frank Peczuh, President and Director,
Peczuh Printing

About the company

Peczuh Printing was founded in 1962 and is a family-run business.

For years, they ran the company instinctively and made business decisions based on gut instinct and though it served them well, they knew it wasn’t the best way to run a medium-sized print shop.

In 2015, they acquired a sizeable print business that had its own MIS system in place but wanted just one central system so they could have transparency across the whole company.

The challenge

After the business acquisition, Peczuh purchased an MIS solution that they thought would unify the two companies and provide the transparency they needed.

But after two years, they realized they just couldn’t make it work and decided it was time to look for something else.

“To come to the conclusion that we need to abandon this effort was somewhat of a disaster. I’m not a software guy but I knew we had failed and we really had our tails between our legs, we didn’t know what to do.”

The solution

Peczuh wanted a system that could give them transparency across all three production sites, and the technology to help them connect the different parts of their business together. They were also looking for an MIS partner that would provide lots of support to make this project easier - people that would roll up their sleeves and dive in to help them.

After discovering the ePS Tharstern MIS and speaking to the team behind it, Frank Peczuh could tell ePS Tharstern had the same drive and vision as their own company.

“ePS Tharstern set out a plan for our success, they had a platform of things that we could accomplish. They addressed our needs and addressed them well. So once again, we dove in and committed the staff and resources necessary.”

From the word go, Peczuh saw ePS Tharstern as a true partner and knew they were there to help them at every turn.

“They were people, not just an organization. When there was a problem or challenge, they educated us and took the time to make sure we understood our role and their role in it. And they also never hesitated to jump in, roll up their sleeves and go to work with us. It still happens all the time - that’s really important and why I look at them as a partner.”

The result

Peczuh now have a system that provides transparency and connectivity across all of the sites within their group. They have full access to the data within their MIS and can easily create custom reports to help them analyze their business data and make informed business decisions, rather than going off gut instinct like they did before.

It’s the first piece of software they have implemented that shows how efficient they are with their estimating and whether they are pricing correctly, based on the costs throughout their production process, which they say is invaluable.

“ePS Tharstern continues to be involved with the ongoing success as we continue to grow the system. Our next steps are to move that system to a more integrated and automated system, throughout our entire organization and Tharstern is playing a part in the success of that.”

“There was significant investment in this project. It was a monumental task to get three facilities online with the resources, people, and training - ePS Tharstern were willing to roll up their sleeves and really dive in with us to get where we wanted to be.”
